Dr. Frank Njenga - Chairman of the Board Open or Close
Dr. Njenga is a renowned consultant psychiatrist and currently running the only custom-built psychiatric unit at the Chiromo Lane Medical Centre in Kenya. He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Degree in Medicine, later becoming a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists at Maudlsey Hospital in 1980. He is also the Director of the Students Campaign Against Drug Abuse and the current Chairman of the Board of NACADA (National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse). He has authored several scientific papers and books.
Pieter Zuijdgeest, Investment Fund for Health in Africa (IFHA) - Director Open or Close
Pieter completed the chartered accountant study at NIVRA (Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants) in 1986 and currently serves as CFO for the Investment Fund for Health in Africa (IFHA). With over 25 years of experience as a financial and operations executive, Pieter has detailed knowledge of finance, acquisitions, divestments, IT and management. Prior to joining IFHA, Pieter has been an entrepreneur for 8 years owning an IT & Telecommunications company. More recently he served as a CFO of a large Dutch ICT & Telecom group and CEO of a software development company.
Prior to this he served as a Partner of the Consulting Service Practice of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and the Global Consulting practice of Ernst & Young Consulting. Previously, he served as Finance Director for Lanier Europe, a Ricoh company and Senior Manager of international audit practice of predecessors of Ernst & Young. In November 2009 he was appointed CFO of IFHA.
Henrik Nordlander, Swedfund - Director Open or Close
Henrik obtained his master’s of science (M.Sc) degree in Business Administration and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and obtained his bachelor of science degree at Lund University School of Economics and Management Lund. He brings a wealth of knowledge in risk capital, expertise and financial support for investments in the emerging markets of Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. He currently holds the position of Senior Investment Manager with Swedfund International based in Nairobi. Henrik joined Swedfund in August 2011 as an Investment Officer based in Stockholm, Sweden. In August 2013 he moved to the regional office in Nairobi. Prior to his Swedfund career, Henrik worked as Senior Analyst at Nordlander Partners, a financial advisor specializing in corporate transactions, both sales and acquisitions as well as fund raising and corporate valuations. Before that he worked at NR Partners as a corporate finance analyst.
Max Coppoolse, Investment Fund for Health in Africa (IFHA) - Director Open or Close
Max graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology. After graduation, Max worked at Unilever for 11 years, and was responsible for the implementation of the restructuring of the Unilever meat/soup and tinned food group in the Netherlands. Max gained experience in reorganizing companies in Africa by his employment as the team leader of an international team which reorganized United Africa Company based in Lagos Nigeria. Max joined KPN in 1990 as General Manager Business and Mobile Communication. He later joined Philips from 1993 to 1998 in various functions, ranging from CEO of Philips Malaysia to General Manager. In 2000, Max joined Vodafone, as a Director Special Projects. In 2003, he became COO of PharmAccess Foundation and while in this function he gained extensive experience in the health sector in Africa. In May 2008 he was appointed as Managing Director of IFHA.
Alice Githere Wahome Open or Close
Alice is a qualified accountant with qualifications in Corporate Finance acquired from the London Business School (1996), and a BSc (Hons.) in Applied Economics from North East London University (1987). She also holds a Certified Accountancy (ACCA) Level 2 qualification from Emile Woolfe School of Accountancy, London (1990). For the past 7 years, Alice has been deeply involved in the Real Estate Development. She is also a Managing Director of Deansbrook School Limited and Moffat Court Limited.
Alice also enjoys voluntary work and has served in the Rotary Club of Bahari (Mombasa) for over seven years in various capacities of treasurer, Secretary and President. She is currently an Assistant Governor in charge of three Rotary Clubs at the Coast of Kenya.
Emmett Moriarty Open or Close
Emmett Moriarty is a specialist advisor to healthcare organisations and investors in emerging markets. His background is in healthcare investment and M&A, programme management and performance improvement. He has worked at board level in more than 40 countries. Emmett is the former Global Health Sector Leader for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private arm of the World Bank Group and the world’s largest investor in emerging markets healthcare. From 2012-13, he served as Vice-President of Medsi Group, Russia’s largest healthcare company, during a crisis period. Emmett’s early career was in senior management at a London teaching hospital, followed by 'Big 4' consulting. He led the Performance Improvement division of the UK’s largest healthcare practice, managing the turnaround of healthcare organizations in the private and public sectors. Emmett holds a Masters Degree in Management Sciences and is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
